The tour starts with lunch (included in the tour) at the Rock & Road Riders Club, Restaurant & Cafe, in Guatapé. The Clubhouse, is located near the entrance of town, across from the large city  parking lot, and next to the Ferroagro hardware store. Once there, just follow the signs down the little trail till you get to our private entrance.

After lunch, your bilingual (English/Spanish) guide will assist you by fitting your bike and helmet, as well as making sure you have water and a power snack for the tour. Then it’s time to hit trail!! You’ll pass through Guatape, stopping at only a couple points of interests along the way before heading out to the backcountry. On the tour your guide will point out various points of  interest and help you with photos, while sharing their knowledge of the history and culture of Antioquia with you.

There are two beautiful Monasterios in the backcountry. On this tour we will visit, Santa Maria De La Epifania. Depending on the hour we arrive sometimes hear the monks chanting prayers and  singing. The other sanctuary, called Monasterio Hermanas Benedictinas El Paraclito Divino, is a little out of our way on this tour.

After visiting the Monasterio, you’ll hit the trail again passing through lush mountain farm land, streams and landscapes as you make your way to an artisanal coffee paradise located in the shadow  of La Piedra. The landscape here is spectacular! If you’re a coffee lover you’re in for a real treat! This is Antioquia’s little gateway to coffee heaven!

Here you’ll visit one of the small coffee farms in the region and learn first hand about the culture and life of a Colombian Campesino. From seed to cup, you’ll be given an an opportunity to  experience life as a small Artisanal coffee farmer in Colombia. Then you’ll produce and sample some amazing coffees and walking the coffee fields. You’ll definitely need your camera!

Antioquia Colombia, has inspired artists, poets, and writers from around the world. Visitors who only come for a day just to climb the rock and snap a few quick shots in town, really miss seeing  the hidden treasures of this amazing part of Colombia.

After your visit to the coffee farms we will make a quick stop at the base of La Piedra, for some quick photos before returning back to the Clubhouse.

This easy bicycle adventure was designed for people who are visiting Guatape for a one day. It will leave you with a more complete appreciation for the magic of Antioquia and some of its secrets,  hidden in the natural beauty of its landscapes.

What to take

Choosing clothing for your bike trip is a very personal choice. Everyone has their own system, but there are some items we strongly recommend you consider before your ride.

A Lightweight Rain Jacket:
Weather in Guatape is often unpredictable and rain can come anytime. It’s best to be prepared.

Shorts and a T-Shirt:
Shorts & T-Shirts are perfect. Try and avoid long pants, most people are generally not as comfortable on a long ride with them.

Tennis Shoes or Cycling Shoes are best! Footwear to avoid are sandals, flip-flops, and old shoes with the bottoms separating.
